Meet The Cast

Get Up & Go Drawing

Dates: February 5 to April 12

We are gathering wonderful prizes for our annual Get Up & Go Raffle. Restaurant gift cards travel weekends to Disney World and Busch Gardens, and local shopping packages are all included. The Get Up & Go is our most popular fund raiser and tickets will be available at performances of Something's Afoot; Tom, Dick, and Harry; and The Amorous Ambassador. This year, the proceeds from the raffle will help underwrite the considerable cost of purchasing additional individual microphones for actors to wear on stage. Each mic costs approximately $1,500. We are replacing some older mics and adding new ones to allow us to have more actors covered with body mics. Tickets are very inexpensive (a donation of $5.00 each or five for $20.00) and the prizes are really great. Eight prize packages will be awarded. Tickets will be available February 5 through April 12.

David Shannon
No David!

Date: Saturday, February 21 at 10am

Our education department has a treat lined up for you. For nine years, the Theatre has been touring local elementary schools with a specially created literacy program to encourage children to read. Each year, we choose a different author to feature. In the past, we've featured Dr. Seuss, Maurice Sendak, Ted Arnold, Doreen Cronin, Judy Schachner's "Skippyjon Jones" books, the "Pete The Cat" series, to name a few, and this year are delighted to feature the "No, David!" stories by David Shannon. We are doing a public presentation on Saturday, February 21 at 10:00 a.m. at the Theatre and would love to have you attend! The books are appropriate for children ages 4 to 7, so bring your little ones to enjoy the event. This event if free for everyone and donations are accepted at the door.

One of Broadway's greatest voices, Hill recently performed this critically acclaimed cabaret show at New York City's famed nightclub 54 Below. ShowBiz Chicago called the sold-out show "a triumphant success on every level… not only for Arlo Hill, but for Frank Loesser's legacy, as the talent of a man who passed away decades ago has infused itself into a new generation of performer. The amazing Arlo Hill brought the house down."

Hailed as a "powerhouse baritone" with a "stunning voice and stage presence," Hill is a member of the New York cast of The Phantom of the Opera, a 2014 winner of the Lotte Lenya Award, and a graduate of Harvard University. Past appearances include Carnegie Hall with the New York Pops, the Emmy-nominated Live From Lincoln Center televised broadcast of Carousel with the New York Philharmonic, and the Encores! series at New York City Center.

Hill is accompanied by pianist Rick Hip-Flores, who has played in the Broadway orchestras of Into the Woods, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Billy Elliot, Rocky, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Wonderland, and Radio City Christmas Spectacular.

I've Been In Love Before has been called "a musical journey from Tin Pan Alley to the silver screen of Hollywood to the Great White Way." The show features the music of Frank Loesser, taking audiences behind the scenes with the composer and lyricist of such Broadway musicals as Guys and Dolls, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, and The Most Happy Fella. An Academy Award-winning songwriter, Loesser also penned numerous songs for films as well as standards which have become part of the American songbook.

Some of Loesser's best-known Broadway compositions featured in the 75-minute program are "My Time of Day" and "I've Never Been in Love Before" from Guys and Dolls, "Once in Love with Amy" from Where's Charley?, and "Standing on the Corner" from The Most Happy Fella. Other songs and standards on the program include "What Are You Doing New Year's Eve?" "Spring Will Be a Little Late This Year," "Slow Boat to China," and "Two Sleepy People," among many others. Come discover the joys of Loesser's music and explore some of his little-known gems which are too rarely in the limelight.
