EVENT DESCRIPTION

Join us on Saturday, November 16 at 12:30 p.m. to explore more about THE GLASS MENAGERIE! This free, “no reading required” book club with R.J. Jenkins of the Marion County Literacy Council is a fascinating hour of insights. Learn more about this long-beloved literary and theatrical classic by Tennessee Williams, which launched him from obscurity to sudden fame in 1944 as one of the 20th century’s legendary playwrights. The most autobiographical of all his works, THE GLASS MENAGERIE won the New York Drama Critics’ Circle Award as Best American Play. It’s a tale of the Wingfield family in 1930s St. Louis, each of them dreaming of a better life during the Great Depression. Tender and tragic, this ethereal memory play is a classic of American theatre.
